I know, I know, I hardly ever have my Sunday posts on Sunday. Oh well. I was too busy shooting a 79 at the golf course. That's right, I was expecting to shoot in the mid-90s and I shot a 79. I finished birdie-birdie on 17 and 18, including sinking a bunker shot on 18. Anyway, back to the card...
Sweeney made the All-Star team in 5 of the 6 seasons before this card was released...can you say Allen & Ginter Sketch card #13 jinx?
In 2007, sketch card #13 was Mark Teahen, who, after 2006, saw his batting average consistenly drop throughout his career.
In 2009, sketch card #13 belonged to David Wright. Just weeks after the A&G release, Wright was hit in the head by a 93 MPH fastball. The following season his batting average dropped to .283. In 2011, it dropped to .254. It wasn't until 2012 that he really returned to form.
In 2010, sketch card #13 commemorated Jonathan Sanchez's No-Hitter. In 2011 and 2012, Sanchez is 5-11 with a 5.06 ERA.
In 2011, sketch card #13 showed Tim Lincecum celebrating the Giants' 2010 World Series victory. In 2011, the Giants failed to make the postseason. So far in 2012, Tim Lincecum is 3-8 with a 5.60 ERA.
Wow, when I initially started this post, I didn't know what I was going to say. When I discovered some of the #13 victims, I thought for sure it was a fluke and that I would be proven wrong. Apparently not.
I think there really may be a #13 sketch card jinx. We'll just have to wait and see who gets that honor when A&G comes out in a couple weeks (or less than 2 weeks, really).

Congrats on the 79. Nothing better than going birdie-birdie, especially on the 17th and 18th holes. And there's not much worse than a birdie-bogie, except maybe a birdie-double bogie.
