2006 Topps Allen & Ginter #64

I guess it wouldn't be too terrible if Andrew McCutchen won MVP this year for the Pirates.  After all, the Pirates get no MVP love. In 1999, Brian Giles batted .315 with 39 HR and 115 RBI for the Pirates.  He finished 19th in the NL MVP voting.  Greg Vaughn batted .245 for the Reds and finished 4th.

As for the Pirates other players that year:

Jason Kendall, Kevin Young, Warren Morris, Mike Benjamin, Ed Sprague, Al Martin and Brant Brown.

That 1999 Pirates team was 78-83, a record they haven't bested since (though they're on pace this year).

I'm pretty sure Brian Giles was underappreciated in 1999.
