2014 Allen & Ginter Want List

Well, since the last time you heard from me, I busted an entire case of Allen & Ginter.  Unfortunately, my case sucked as far as base cards go.  I know that's a weird thing to rip on for a case, but it sucks.  I fell 29 cards short of a complete set and 49 cards short of a second.  I got as many as 9 of some cards, too.  My SPs were pretty well spread as I ended up with two complete SP sets (301-350) and about half of a third.  I did finish all of the full-size insert sets, so I was happy about that.  The Coincidence set is retail, though, and I've only managed to grab two of those.

Here is my want list:

Base Set 1:
2,11,19,20,35,44,60,77,86,94,96,
108,129,132,147,155,174,181,182,
190,201,202,215,223,300

Base Set 2:
2,8,11,19,20,29,35,41,44,60,64,
76,77,86,90,94,96,108,111,123,
126,129,132,134,147,155,163,
174,181,182,183,190,193,201,202,215,223
235,246,253,269,292,299,300

Coincidence (AGC-):
01,03,06,07,08,10,11

I've listed the hits and other good stuff on eBay to try to recoup some cash, but I still have plenty of base and inserts to trade, as well as anything that doesn't sell.  Hit me up.

Allen & Ginter Week: 2013 Rack Pack x5

At least I thing it was 5.  Yeah, we'll say 5.

I know that's only 2.  My scanner isn't gigantic.  I'm sorry.  Pretend there are 5.

3 guys, 1 BJ.  Huh?

Short prints.  Scoo-TAR-o sounds better than SCOOT-aro.  I don't care if it is wrong.

That's a hell of a group right there.

These cards pretty much suck, but I'm a fan of the Mayans.

Meh.

Better.

Boom.  Awesome. Desperately want to finish this insert set.  Go here to help.

Ruiz is sliding...in more ways than one.  Olivia Culpo could not be much more opposite of Artie Lange.

I have a black Niese.

Cool name for an insert set, so I can live with it.

Love 'em.  Uranus joke.  Pluto isn't a planet joke.

That is all.  No relics this time.  Has my 2014 A&G arrived yet? I'm jittery as a mofo.

Allen & Ginter Week: 2012 Blaster x2

If you don't see Jake Gyllenhaal on the front of that box, you're blind.

Bryce Harper RC...or Bryciepoo as we call him in our house.

Short prints because...well, just because.

That Jackie Robinson card is a thing of beauty.  I'm always happy to land a Verlander...even if he does have a slight Goomba-head.

Very nice.

World's Tallest Buildings is a decent set, but you just ended up with too many of them.  Seed the 10-card sets a little lighter, Topps.

Larry and Dave dropped in from Willow Cove.  I once had the pleasure of speaking with Dave's Deputy, Mr. Danny Young.

What's in a Name? Letters...

These are either regular backs or A&G backs.  I don't remember.

Ditto.

These are definitely black borders, though.

Caesar looks a little pale.  His salad is delicious, though.  <-is p="" say="" that="" to="" weird="">Horatio Nelson -> Horatio Alger -> Flowers for Algernon....that's what my brain does.  Flowers for Algernon is amazing and if you've never read it, you should.

I'm just going to go ahead and say these are the two best whales.  Sperm Whale is a close third.  Narwhal is awesome and deserves to be in a class by itself.

Another day, another relic.  I still really like the black borders.

Come back tomorrow for some 2013 A&G.

Allen & Ginter Week: 2011 Blaster...now with working pictures!

2014 Topps Allen & Ginter hits the market this week, and I'm already itching to get my hands on it.  In the mean time, here is a blaster of 2011 Allen & Ginter.

This is from the year when A&G took the biggest jump in base card design.  It would also be the last year that Stanton was Mike, and not Giancarlo.

The common insert was Hometown Heroes, which I liked.  It felt like the A&G version of Bowman International.

Baseball Highlight Sketches were back for another year, though I'm not really sure why they didn't rotate the border.

This rotation issue is my fault.  Oops.  Floating Fortresses is another nice set.

I wasn't big on these at first, but they are growing on me.  From a conceptual standpoint, the set is brilliant.  As individual cards, not so much.

Minds that Made the Future? Sold.  Absolutely sold.  These are some of the best A&G inserts around.

The last full-size card I'll show (sort of) is this Chipper code card.  Again, as a set, these sort of make sense, but individually, they're kinda just an ugly parallel.

Chipper again!  I'm sure a couple of these are A&G backs but I don't remember.

A-Rod inside that funky black border.  Not the finest black borders in A&G history.

Second-to-last mini card I'll show (sort of)...get it...see what I did there...it's the penultimate mini...oh my golly...whew...that was a fun one.

Never heard of him -> wikipedia -> now I'm the leading Count of St. Germain scholar.  Ask me anything.

You may have noticed the two "sort of" statements I made.  That's because the last card (not sort of...definitely the last card) I'm showing is both a mini and a full-size card:

You may have thought the relic committed the crime, but I assure you it was framed...

....well, speaking of crimes, come back tomorrow for some 2012 A&G.

Oh yeah, if you are interested in the Beckham relic, or maybe a different A&G relic, check this out...
