Football Contest: Loser's Bracket Round 1
Don't forget, as I posted last night, the goal here is to get the lowest score. The cards in yesterday's post were also part of the loser's bracket. So, if you got excited when you saw them, you probably shouldn't have.
Here are the games:
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS 4, TENNESSEE TITANS 16
>>> The Titans, who tied for the league's worst record, showed up big time to blow it against the Colts. This 5-point card alone did them in:
CINCINNATI BENGALS 12, CLEVELAND BROWNS 18, PITTSBURGH STEELERS 24
>>> The Steelers had this game well in hand until they pulled this gem:
NEW YORK JETS 3, BUFFALO BILLS 9
>>> The Jets and Bills were as bad as the Patriots and Dolphins were good this year. Here, the Jets put up a bracket-low 3 points to get the win.
OAKLAND RAIDERS 8, SAN DIEGO CHARGERS 10, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 11
>>> I'm pretty sure everyone saw this coming. The Raiders were miserable all season, and they get the win here despite a Scorecard parallel:
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 8, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 14
>>> Apparently getting a Scorecard is what happens you don't bother to get many other cards. That's good news for the Seahawks:
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 7, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS 7, CAROLINA PANTHERS 12
>>> The Saints and Bucs tied, but the Saints 7-9 regular season record gives them the win. How the Panthers scored so much in this, I will never know.
CHICAGO BEARS 9, MINNESOTA VIKINGS 11
>>> The Bears were once division leaders in the regular season who fell to last in their division. Now, their low-scoring helps them.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 8, WASHINGTON REDSKINS 11, DALLAS COWBOYS 13
>>> Go figure. The Skins couldn't muster points to save their lives in the regular season, but now they get enough to lose to the Eagles.
Here is the updated bracket:
