For today's packs, we're going to jump back a year to 2011 Topps in the form of 3 rack packs (36) and 1 retail pack (12). Since there are 120 possible cards, we should see some higher scores this week.
The Eagles, Broncos, and Redskins all score Hokie bonus points this week thanks to these three cards:
As for inserts, several teams scored 2 points-per-card:
A good pair of cards for the Cowboys. |
I almost gave bonus points for these, but they're just not quite as cool as the 2012 Tallboys. |
Enough of that, let's see some scores:
CLEVELAND BROWNS 3, BALTIMORE RAVENS 2
>>> 2 cards each, but a Cleveland RC seals the deal.
ATLANTA FALCONS 6, CAROLINA PANTHERS 5
>>> The 'Quizz Rodgers retro card up top made the difference here.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS 8, BUFFALO BILLS 4
>>> A nice insert wasn't enough for the Bills as the Patriots move to 4-0.
DETROIT LIONS 7, MINNESOTA VIKINGS 3
HOUSTON TEXANS 7, TENNESSEE TITANS 4
>>> The Texans landed a ToppsTown insert to help them win.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 6, SAN DIEGO CHARGERS 5
>>> Each team scored 4 cards, but the Chiefs had 2 RCs lead them to their first win.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 10, NEW YORK JETS 9
>>> Wow, this was definitely the Game of the Week. The Jets hit 3 base card, 2 RC, and the Bowman Braylon Edwards but it wasn't enough to fend off the Niners who scored 5 base, 1 RC, 1 Giveaway card and a Super Bowl Legend.
ST. LOUIS RAMS 7, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 3
>>>This game was tied until the Card of the Week showed up:
#/2011 |
MIAMI DOLPHINS 5, ARIZONA CARDINALS 3
>>> Dolphins join the Patriots at 4-0.
CINCINNATI BENGALS 5, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS 3
DENVER BRONCOS 9, OAKLAND RAIDERS 4
GREEN BAY PACKERS 8, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS 3
>>> Saints lose their first game of the season.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS 6, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS 4
>>> Washington gets their first win of the season thanks to DeAngelo Hall
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 2, NEW YORK GIANTS 1
>>> Vick versus a base Giant. Vick wins. It's especially appropriate since there's a Giant on the ground in the background of the Vick card.
DALLAS COWBOYS 9, CHICAGO BEARS 2
>>> Wow. The Bears' first loss of the season comes from a butt-whooping by the Cowboys.
The two bye teams both scored 6, which would have beaten or tied 21 of the teams that played this week. That's unfortunate for them, especially since they've both had rough starts.

I'm guessing the Chiefs were playing at home in December and Matt Cassel was not at QB.
nice to see DHall sign and stay with the redskins.
HTTR!
Darn it, Saints! Get it together! I was hoping for 16-0.
I am (still) collecting the Gameday inserts from that set, and to a lesser extent the Faces of the Franchise inserts if you are willing to part with any of those.
